How is IOD Pigment Ink different from IOD Decor Ink?
IOD Pigment Ink creates crisp, opaque impressions with a rich metallic shimmer. It works beautifully for paper crafts, including cards, journals, tags, and mixed media, as well as other surfaces like uncoated wood. It can also be used on fabric, but unlike IOD Decor Ink, it is not designed to be heat-set for washable fabric applications.
IOD Pigment Ink comes in a pre-filled ink pad, with refill bottles available separately.
What surfaces can I use IOD Pigment Ink on?
It works best on paper, cardstock, and uncoated wood. It is not recommended for vinyl-coated or other non-porous surfaces.
We’ve also had great results on chalk paint and painted wood with a top coat, though top-coated surfaces may require additional drying time. Because paints and finishes vary by brand and formula, we always recommend testing a small area first.
How long does Pigment Ink take to dry?
On cardstock, allow approximately 10–15 minutes to air dry. Dry time can vary depending on the surface, amount of ink applied, temperature, and humidity.
Is IOD Pigment Ink archival and acid-free?
Yes. IOD Pigment Ink is both archival and acid-free, making it a great choice for journals, cards, paper crafts, and keepsake projects.
Can I use it with IOD Stamps?
Yes! Pigment Ink pairs beautifully with IOD Stamps for crisp, detailed impressions on recommended surfaces.
Can I use Pigment Ink on wood?
Yes, on uncoated wood. Because wood is absorbent and varies considerably, drying time may be different than on paper.
It is also great over unsealed chalk paint with high shimmer and wonderful impressions.
Can I heat-set Pigment Ink?
Pigment Ink is designed to air dry. Gentle heat may help speed drying on some surfaces.
Are the ink pads refillable?
Yes. Refills are available in coordinating 0.7 fl oz bottles so you can refresh your ink pad as needed.
How should I store my Pigment Ink Pad?
Keep the lid securely closed when not in use to prevent the ink pad from drying out. Store the pad upside down to help keep the ink evenly distributed and the pad fresh. Store in a cool, dry place.

How do I clean my IOD Stamps after using Pigment Ink?
Clean your IOD Stamps after use with warm (not hot) water and mild soap. For quick cleanup, you can also use a baby wipe. Avoid hot water, which can damage your stamps.
